J.W. Seachrist explores the collision of precision and spontaneity through a unique language of gesture, geometry, and embedded material. Each piece begins with a disciplined ink composition — intuitive yet deliberate — then disrupted and anchored by the tactile presence of oak, hand-painted and embedded into the work. The result is a conversation between permanence and impermanence, between the fluid and the fixed.

Created on 100% handmade virgin cotton paper, each piece gains texture, history, and archival integrity. The paper’s organic topography enhances the material contrast and aligns with Seachrist’s intention to ground abstract form in physical presence.

Drawing from architectural forms, natural degradation, and mid-century minimalism, J.W. Seachrist’s work is both a visual meditation and a tactile confrontation. The embedded oak fragments function as visual punctuation, altering the rhythm of the ink and expanding the narrative beyond the two-dimensional frame.
